global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWith Chipperfield\u2019s design the visitors can look forward to purist-elegant museum building with an international appeal\u201d, says Christoph Stuehn from the Kunsthaus Z\u00fcrich. \u201cTogether with the existing buildings Switzerland\u2019s largest art museum will be established\u201d. <strong>The Chipperfields&#8217; extension opens October 12th 2021.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>In the extension, the focus will be on the art of the 1960s and later, three major collections of Emil B\u00fchrle, Werner Merzbacher, and Hubert Looser as well as medium-sized temporary exhibitions. Apart from the central entrance hall flooded with light, which, according to Stuehn, is \u201ca new form of public space in which to experience art\u201d, Chipperfield\u2019s building also includes a museum shop as well as a public bar and a rentable event hall on the ground floor. The number of visitors is also expected to increase, from 300,000 today to around 400 000 guests per year.
